Emmetrop is an association created thanks to the law of 1901 in September 1984.

Its objectives are:
-Promotion of contemporary creation by an open action.
-Creation of new relations between art and people.

The figures:
Emmetrop gathers fifteen permanent persons in staff, sixteen adherent music bands (more than three hundred musicians), two hundred and fifty individual adherents and ten associations.
Emmetrop’s field of action in the artistic domain goes from actual and experimental music, contemporary art (Transpalette), multimedia and numeric cultures (ECM), urban cultures, street art and circus, to theatre for juniors… Emmetrop's activity is not restricted to this and extend its range of action everyday.

Emmetrop’s domains of intervention are:
creation, diffusion, formation and mediation. That’s why the association is very effective in the building of actions whose objectives are to favour artistic and cultural emergences and links between professionals and amateurs.

From a multi-artistic schedule, Emmetrop brings art closer to life and pull back culture in its primordial function to question society. It advocates in democratisation of culture and dismarginalization of young cultures to set up a new level of assistance to the creation, accessible to all.

Emmetrop is becoming involvet to create links with other networks around its activities. This attitude helps Emmetrop find out different ways to exchange and build, ideas and experience, to have permanent formation of its staff and to expand its artistic contacts.

Originally, a group of student at the Bourges’ “Beaux Arts” school and some other coming from different artistic circles (movie, music, theatre, …) decides to create an association to quit the preserved circle of “Beaux Arts” in order to experiment in public domain, a concept of cultural action where art and life are in tight relation. The urban social space constitutes a favoured craft of its visibility and implication. Twenty years of human adventure, where team spirit, independence, young creation, promotion and cultural emergence are the motos of a great diversity of actions (concerts, exhibitions, happenings, publishing, creation, young culture development…).
Emmetrop had a progressive professional evolution, where team projects always proceed from a consensus between its active members and a wide implication in Bourges’s cultural background, with an open-minded vision leading to collaborations and co-productions.
From playfull and punctual activity of the beginning to professional multi-tasking, Emmetrop is looking towards the future with confidence and continue to canalise its energies and its passions to serve art as a struggle against all kinds of exclusion.



The “Antre-Peaux” project is accompanied with the territorial communities to give to the structures a place and sponsor for new artistic practices and new mediation process. The building is the property of Bourges city. Some institutions join Emmetrop in different actions. This permit to develop events outside Emmetrop geographical position.

- Management of three premises dedicated to musical rehearsals (Usina-Son)
- Organisation of contemporary art expositions (Transpalette)
- Artistic broadcast (actual musics, street theatre, urban dance, young public theatre…)
- Elaboration of expression studio
- Actions of cultural development for young people from all Bourges district (spectacles,
  studios, master class, cultural outings, mediations).
- Animation of resources centre (information, advice, to accompany young people cultural
  projects…).
- Animation in collaboration with the association “Bandits-mages” from the ECM (Culture
  Multimedia Space)
- To establish technical and musical formations (public address system, numeric sound,
  sampler,…)
  and to accompany amateur artistic practices.
- Organisation of artist residences/ placement (urban dance, voice, writing…)
- Establishment of European cultural exchanges
- Antenna “Centre de découverte du Printemps de Bourges”

- Producer of the transmission “Les envahisseurs” on Radio Résonance (96.9 FM)
- Reception of trainees ( Company trainee, students…) and reception persons in difficulty (post drying-out and detoxification treatment, border liners, after a prison time…)
